The Steampunk Spanish Forum "The Golden Gear" celebrated their 1st Steampunk Symposium on December 2-4 in Cenicientos, a small village not all that far from Madrid.. Click here for pictures and comments. Many members of The Golden Gear lived together for three days in a rural cottage rented out for the occasion where all activities were to be carried out such as a “Raygun Painting Workshop” by the Professors Klauss and Brokenheimer, a “Photograph Developing Workshop” by Major Jacques Lovesteel –also the orchestrator of the Symposium- among many other activities including a very complete photoshoot and a Saturday night visit to one of the best steampunk and mystery theme based taverns in Spain, “Ithillien” owned by Janacek.

The Golden Gear members also set up a very complete and extensive exposition consisting of the best of our handmade artisan crafts, ranging from rayguns to hats, from helmets to goggles or even from mechanical wings to lightsabers. An outstanding exposition indeed.

One major surprise was that the famous steampunk music band “Vernian Process” sent us a recording where they congratulated us on our symposium –in Spanish and English- and presented us with a small peek of their forthcoming work, how proud and honored we were!

A very interesting weekend for members of the forum, where most of us met in person for the first time despite having known each other through our own forum and through other places on the internet for many years. And we sure hope that next year’s will be even better!
